Fishy Sundays!!

Hey Folks!

Just stopping in to let everyone know I took yestday off haha. I went fishing for most of the day with my buddy Jason.. I didnt catch anything..well 1 TINY little trout..which I let go.. but it was fun anyway!!

Today I should be in the local Miramichi Leader Newspaper.. so keep your eyes peeled for that!!

Its almost 7am right now.. im going to call Paul at Salt Water Sounds soon.. to see if its ok to play in front of his shop again today. Where i'll be in todays News.. it seems like a good idea to be out there. If he says he thinks it best to wait til next thursday.. then i'll be calling the manager of Sobeys in Newcastle. I had stopped into see him yesterday..but he wasnt there.. so i'll see this morning what can happen.

Mike Miramichine!! HaHa!!

Hey everyone,

Buskin in the streets has been awesome!! Friday I played on Water st in Chatham again.. 10am-4pm. I made the Moncton Times on Friday!! The article was great!! except in one section the reporter stated "Mallais was recently turned down for three-month tour on MetalBlade Records" ..which isnt right.. I turned THEM down.. but oh well.

Today I spent buskin in front of Sobeys in Douglastouwn and it was great!! VERY hot!!! but Great no less!!. Thanks to Joey for the support!!! ..also thanks to Ed for driving me to/from!! and also to Connie and Paul for all the help!!

Ive just found out that my U.I. claim is now done. So looks like buskin is my only income right now. Trinity Sounds hasent called me for work in weeks.. it sucks. But hey..buskin seems to be doing ok.. but the fact is..im trying to raise money to get to California.. not survive.. oh well.. i'll do what I can. Im also taking on students for Drumming lessons soon.. I need the money..they need the lessons.. so we'll see.

Its GOOOOOOOOOD!!!

Hey everyone!!

Well as planned.. I tore Water st in chatham today!! I played on the street from 10am til 4pm. It was GREAT!!!.. SOooooo much support today.. its amazing!! I wanna take this chance to thank Paul from Salt Water Sounds.. without him..this wouldnt be happening!!

I broke the "double stroke" hand record today from what I can gather.. im told..long as I keep the pace of the metronome..its good. So i'll be trying my luck at this record at NAMM aswell!!

Also..I was interviewed today by 2 newpapers... 1 being the local Miramichi Leader.. and also the Moncton Times & Transcript. Expect to see those if you're able to buy those papers!!!

Tonight I was addressed to city council.. and my idea of starting a Miramichi Music Club was pitched!!..on the basis of tourism..which was slick on Martys part!! ..Thanks Marty!! First step in the right direction forsure. Once the meeting ajourned.. I met with local campground owner Peter Manderson.. ive known Peter for my entire life.. I ALWAYS used to motorbike on his campground.. he knew it..I knew it.. but I respected his grounds. Anyway.. hes agreed to let me host a clinic/open jam at his campground.. where he has a HUGE facility to use.. it should be great!!!

From there.. I met with my buddy Ed again.. Ed was good to me tonight and drove me to the city meeting.. then dropped me off.. and came back for me.. so a huge thanks is owed to him. Thanks Ed!!

Now im off to sleep.. i'll be jamming again tommorow starting at 10am.. if you're around Water St. Chatham?.. i'll see ya then!! ..Take care everyone!! Smash On!!

Tearin Up Da Street!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Today has been exciting. Around 2pm I called Tim at Millbank Music..to make an appointment concerning NAMM. He wasnt there.. but that gave me the idea to call Paul Mcgraw at Salt Water Sounds in Chatham. I approached Paul with the idea of playing in the street..and he was 100% all for the idea!!! ..so being inspired.. I put together a street kit and am going to be performing live on Chathams Water St at 10:30 am tommorow morning!!!! ..this will be my first time busking on a drum kit.. and first time busking in this city at all!!! far as I know!?!? this will be the FIRST time a Drummer has busked in Miramichi!!!

After I got everything over to Pauls.. thanks to my mom!! haha thanks Ma!! ..I went over to FatKat Animation studios and Gene'r hooked me up with a really nice Black FatKat t-shirt to wear tommorow as advertising.. its great!! Thanks Gene!!!

From there.. I met up with Jody of JJ's Boardshop.. hung out for awhile..and then I convinced him to throw me a couple stickers for my kick drum.. I dont mind advertising for a buddy!!

So now im home and ready to hit the sack.. stay tuned!! and smash on!!

Wacky Weekends!!

Hey Everyone!!

Well first.. Id like to thank everyone who sent emails/msgs ..congratulating me on the new WORLD record =) ..thanks everyone!!

Ive uploaded 3 shots of the new kit arrangement.. its working out alright,..but lately im giving more and more thought to raising it REALLY high..since im 6,5' ..it makes sense I play a 6,5' arrangement.. we'll see.

I'll try to recap on what ive been up to. Saturday was an amazing day for smashing. I spent pretty much from 12-5 on the Drumometer...6-9 was spent jamming out with my buddy Marc!! ..we rocked considering how long its been since we've jammed together. After that I went to see my old Martial Arts Sensai.. and had a REALLY good heart to heart with him. He's always been here for me..and I owe him a huge thanks for leading by such a "REAL" example. I like to consider myself a "realist" so I really need to thank him for being a truthful man. Thanks for everything Marty!!! ..aside from that.. he is a member of city councel here in Miramichi..and is going to approach the council this thursday, about the city supporting/endorsing me..with help to get me to NAMM in January '07. Im asking the city to help provide me with the recogition I need.. and also a place to "busk" ..so I can perform for the city and really get myself some city exposure. Threw that..ive got plans to pitch the idea of forming a "Miramichi Music Club" ..wish me luck on all this!!!

Sunday was great too. I spent most of the day cleaning house..and then Jason and his GF Christine came and took me out to the exhibition..where we saw a 4-wheeler mud run.. it was pretty kool!!!. After that.. Marc came down and we jammed for a good 3 hours.. it was alot of fun..and cant wait to get back in the swing of it on a steady basis.

Monday.. I didnt touch the drums or the drumometer at all. Im still beat from the weekend.. and I think I just need a rest in general. Ive been cleaning and hanging out with my friends quite alot..and its great.

NEW WORLD RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thats right.. NEW WORLD RECORD set tonight by yours truly!!

The previous record has been set by Mr. Mike Mangini ..with a score of 13,222 strokes in 15 minutes.. thats 900 seconds.

Here is what was said about Mike -- "ALERT! New World Record Broken at NAMM Summer Session by Mike Mangini, drummer for Extreme and the Steve Vai Band, set the current world record at the WFD by achieving 1247 single strokes in 60 seconds (using sticks) in Indianapolis, July, 2005. He also set the Fastest Feet Speed/Endurance Record: 13,222 single strokes with his feet in 900 seconds (15 min). Congrats Mike!"

But.. tonight ive broken that record with 13,453 in 900 seconds!!!!! Whata work out!! ..i'll be setting the pace again at NAMM '07 ..but this is a great taste of things to come..as this is/was LITERALLY my first time ever trying a 900 second run.

Hey Guys,

Im getting alot of emails asking about why the samples arent working right now. The site/hosts are under construction..so please be patient as they'll be back soon..and hopefully more samples will be recorded for you by then.

Things have been very busy ..and very good all at once. Again..im real sorry for not posting daily..just so busy/caught up in moments. I'll post pics of the new setup soon too.

Nature? ...Naturally.

Hey!!

Well here ive uploaded some pictures that I took earlier today with Ellen and Chris. We went hiking at French Fort Cove here in Miramichi..and it was awesome!!!!! I had a blast!!! We got chased by some nasty wasps.. but made it out ok in the end hahah.

Last night I was up til 6am working on the new kit arrangements..pics of that soon to come. I woke up this morning to a wonderful email from a friend.. who just wanted to let me know ..one of her friends has been to my site..and thinks im awesome. Nice way to start the day. Then I did the hike til about 6pm. I then decided it was smashin time!!! so I smashed for 2 hours on the kit..and then 2 more hours on the Pad Station... best run tonight was 951.

Tonight has been great aswell. I got to touch base with a friend I really miss.. and now im waiting on Ray to come get me..cause we're goin out for celebrate Brucifers b-day!! the BIG 28!! hahaha Happy B-day Bruce!!!

So thats all I can really report right now.. If I think of something else.. i'll fill ya's in haha.. take care!!

Cymbals Forsale!!

Hey folks!!

To start.. Id like to advertise that im selling (2) 16" Sabian AA Crashes. Used.. but no cracks,keyholing.. and theyre tonally different from each other. Im asking $225 for the pair..or $125 each. Also ..I have a 20"Zildjian Schimitar Ride that has keyholing for $50 bucks...and if anyone needs stands/parts..contact me.

Well..news has been confirmed that im no longer joining "Echo" in 2006. They've been very considerate..but its just not the right time for them.. but I hope they know I tried to make the best efforts I could. Good luck anyway boys!! ..maybe next year!!

Yesterday I didnt end up sandblasting as planned. Joel worked til 8pm..so it couldnt happen..maybe this weekend tho. So I spent the rest of the night smashing my ass off!! Talk about sweating!!! ..and today..same thing.. I trained really hard today again.. tired tho.. gonna need a break soon..maybe tommorow.

Going & Going & Going & Going...

Hey Hey!!!

So yesterday was a hell of a day!! ..I trained on the pedal station for about an hour.. and then I took off on a 47.5 km bike ride.. and man.. on my mountain bike ..its KILLER. But I lived to see today.. so I win!!! haha. That totally swallowed alot of my day/night.. and then I spent the rest of the night hanging with my friends Marc & Parker.

Today has been fun as hell.. wait.. its been HELL!! hahah..Ive been going strong and hard since 12 noon. I woke up this morning to my buddy Chad banging on the door at 9am..haha so we went out for awhile..did some errands and then til now ..ive been smashing on the pad station and on the kit. Talk about SWEATY!!!!

My plan for tonight is.. soon make/have supper..shower..and then im off to sandblast all the chrome hardware from my Premier Heavy Rock 9 snare drum.. the guy ive got doing it hates sandblasting..so im doing it to save me money hahah.. wish me luck..ive never done it before. So thats my plans for now.. go out and sandblast.. afterwards.. who knows.. but stay tuned ..

BTW ..my best run today was 955.. must be getting tired?! hahaha ..man..understatement of the year right there haha

Harder,Faster,Stronger,Smarter!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Just want to check in with you guys and let you know im alive and doing very well!! =)

Ive been staying busy as always!! ..aside ..my new AXIS' pedals are here!!! I spent abit on them yesterday..getting them tweaked to the official WFD settings as best I could. From there.. I did a few runs.. and had afew FUNNY as hell moments on the meter. First I thought I was destroying the world record ..due to not having the bass drum stuffed tight enough with blankets/foam...thats why ive uploaded the funny 1600+ scores hahah... IMAGINE!!??? ..anyway.. my best run yesterday was 1020 on the axis.. thats right!! only 10 away from the WORLD record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had company come over in the afternoon aswell.. so I couldnt really focus on just the drumometer station ..but I did make time to call Tim and get his advice on how to properly adjust things.. and I think ive done it. Thanks Tim!!!!!!

From there.. Me and BJ took 20 mins to go help my friend Ed out with moving some stuff out of his basement. From there we out to get some food.. I hadent eaten at all by this point haha. Then we spent time driving around.. seeing ppl we know.. BJ leaves soon..and that sucks ass. As soon as I got home..Ray called and wanted me to go do some shopping with him. So I did that.. and while I was out.. I got my mom a late b-day gift (good surprise) ..and picked up a scrap book for myself..and some energy drinks. From there.. we visited my buddy Adam..so yesterday was very social for me.. good times forsure!!!

Today ive just had 500ml of water and an apple..and now im off to bike the 40km run around the Miramichi River. I just wanted to make this entry before too much time passes. I dont know when im working next..as Brian is such a busy boy.. but wish me luck.. I hope im not being fired gently. I love that job!!

Im feelin HOT HOT HOT!!

Hey everyone!!

Again.. my apologies to everyone who has been checking the blog. I have been really busy..and with it being soooo hot I just havent made time for this... so here it is folks haha.

Since my last post its been 5 days. Within those 5 days..many many things have been happening. This last week ..ive totalled over 80km of bike riding. Ive been also training on my new DRUMOMETER!!! yes..thats right folks.. my new Drumometer has arrived.. many thanks to Craig and the rest of the staff at Drumometer.. and also a big thanks to Tim Waterson for his support and his faith in me becoming the next WFD!!

Well im sure you are all curious how im doing for a score?? ..well with the yamaha pedals..my best run was 957.. which is under 100 from the WORLD record.. so I dont feel bad. BUT!! I had plans with someone to get my Axis pedals back..I sold my starclassic snare,my rototoms, my 20"Paiste BLACK colorsound power ride.. all to afford this deal with him.. but he backed out at the last minute ..(thanks for fucking me over). From there.. I have been lucky enough to make a trade with a friend of mine.. Jason in Fredericton.. traded my Yamahas for his Axis'. He has SAVED the day I tell ya!!! so this is a shout out to Jason for his support!!! Thanks Bro!!! The pedals should be here by tommorow.. i'll keep ya's posted as best I can with how I make out.

Aside from biking like a madman.. and concentrating on WFD.. ive gone and bought $90 worth of vegatables haha.. better fuel for the fire!! I have had 8 days off of working with Brian so far.. im not feeling comfortable about it to be honest.. I may have to start looking for new/more work.. I cant afford to be guessing. Ive also just invested into a (new to me) throne off ebay.. mine is just not good enough to be serious about WFD. So I cant wait to have it all here and set up.. he axis,throne etc.. once I have it all in place.. no room for excuses!!!

Today I have to pack/ship the starclassic snare to my buddy Dave in NFLD.. I have been so busy ..im sorry Dave..but its coming bro ..I promise!! From there.. im biking 40km around the Miramichi River. Then i'll come home to train my hands abit... no pedals..so no smashing.. but least I have the drumometer!!!

Right now im boiling corn for breakfast haha.. I gotta pack that snare..shower..and head off to do the 40km run... but im glad to make this effort for you guys..your support lately has been mind blowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here ive uploaded more pics from last weekend. You'll see crowd shots from the "Duck Race"..and also my adventures in Tim Hortons haha. The stud in the shades is the infamous Steve Newman of "Li'l Bastard".. then I captured a shot of my buddy Emery's momma ..Hi Lorna!! ahah (shes been a friend since I was a lil kid..she'll kill me for posting her picture online hahaha) ..then we have Thomas and his lovely GF Crystal!.. Hi guys!!! ..Good times.. except while I was hiding from the rain taking these pics.. I missed a tear down in the park.. I still feel like shit for that.. SORRY Brian!!

So over the past few days.. Ive been recovering my strength..laying low pretty much. Ive been working on the kit quite abit.. trying to find a comfortable setup. Ive been tracking my Drumometer.. it should be here today/tommorow!! (cant wait to test my might!!!). Also ..I have sold my Roto-toms and my Starclassic snare to a couple freinds. Im using the money to invest in my old Axis A Longboard Pedals.. because those are the ONLY pedal accepted at WFD..so if im going to take WFD seriously.. I need them back.. so im raising money for those..by selling some of my gear =( ..stupid money!!!!!!!! ..but hey ..atleast Jesse is willing to help me out by selling me the pedals.. I know he doesent want to let them go..so a big THANKS going out to you Jess!!!!!

Aside from that.. Ive just traded off my 20" Paiste Black Colorsound Power Ride to my buddy Ray for (2) 16" Sabian AA crashes..and a 20"Zildjian Schimitar Ride. WHY?!!? ..ya I know.. but since I hope to be gigging with Echo soon.. I need them.. especially where ive broken my precious 15"Visions.. I need some cymbals that wont break my mind if/when they break. So its threw this frame of thinking.. that i'll be definately approaching Sabian for an Endorsement.. and I know Sabian will really support me on the road.

Sorry I havent been posting daily.. but ive just too busy to really account for my actions. Moms b-day was on monday etc.. so things are always keeping me off the computer lately.. which is good!! ..I cant be here mucgh lately.. it hurts to see all the ppl/things in the world ..that I want SO BADLY.. yet have NO chance in hell of having them/her. So thats why im not around if you've been trying to get in touch.

Hey Folks.. I'll have to make a few entries here cause ive got alot of pictures for you guys..and I guess there is a limit to how many I can upload in 1 post.

The pics you're seeing here are from saturday's events that I worked. I also took some snap shots of a car I'd LOVE to own.. "1BADWGN" ..all black.. large enough for "most" drummers.. mmmm very nice. The days events went really well.. but I ended up missing 1 of our tear downs.. Im SORRY Brian and Dave.. I still feel like shit for that.. it was a mistake.. but outside of that.. things went well.. I was DAMN tired tho.. lately my energy levels are at an all time low.

Ive got a few days off work unexpectedly..we're all burning out.. so its great to have time to myself right now. Im sorry to anyone who has been calling/messaging.. but im just not feeling up to being social right now.. i'll catch up with everyone when im feeling rested.

Ive been devoting as much time around the house as possible.. so much to do..yet so little time/energy. Im still working on the new kit arrangement..and in between making time for smashin. Ive been tracking my drumometer..it should be here my Monday/Tuesday.. so im really excited about having a chance to BREAK the WORLD record for Fastest Foot Singles in 60 seconds. Also i'll be using the Drumometer to build control in the tempos I still hope to build upon.

So i'll keep everyone updated as much as I can.. but dont expect alot of effort right now.. im just trying to gather my strength and chill out. So stay well everyone.. thanks for stopping by.. and Smash on!!! \m/
